Ingredients required:

1 kg of rye flour,

1 tablespoon of salt,

10 gram sachet of fresh yeast,

600 ml of milk,

200 ml of water.

Mode of preparation:

  • Take rye flour in a bowl and mix one tablespoon of salt with it thoroughly. Melt the sachet of fresh yeast with a little of lukewarm water in another container.
  • Now pour the yeast water into the flour. Make a small well in the flour to prevent the formation of rivulets. It will facilitate easy mixing. You may also add milk and water into it. Knead thoroughly using your palm and fingers as you add dry flour to prevent it from sticking onto your fingers. The addition of milk and water should be done gradually, so that it wouldn’t stick to the bowl and hand.
  • Cover the flour with a wet cloth and keep it in a warm place for a couple of hours.
  • Then knead the flour knead and bake both sides of the block in your oven for thirty minutes at 180 degree centigrade.
  • Cool it on the wire rack for some time and rye bread is ready. When cooled and dried, it will feel crunchy.
